Description

Artist Statement

Anouk Koch‘s artistic practice revolves around the themes of social pressure, abuse of power and various other dynamics in relationships. Through her choice of text fragments on their carriers, she seeks a tension between form and content, while simultaneously exploring the boundaries between emotions and perception. The imprinted objects are often perceived as everyday objects or cheap goods, such as balloons, bricks or tablecloth. However, Koch removes the objects from their daily usage and re-contextualizes them, conferring them a hidden poetry. Based on incisive experiences of powerlessness, works are created that evoke feelings of exposure and consternation.
