SELL THE KIDS FOR FOOD
In conjunction with Marion Baruch`s solo exhibition Everything Begins with Nature and Ends at the Supermarket, the LRRH Aerial invited six emerging artists to develop works in reference to Marion Baruchs work.
SELL THE KIDS FOR FOOD - about treating ignorance as an excuse and the threatening reminder that we are feeding this exact system in which we play along and numb ourselves.
The work responds to Marion Baruch‘s exhibition title „Everything Begins with Nature and Ends at the Supermarket“ as well as some of Baruch‘s older works. It consists of a table for six people covered with a tablecloth carrying the message WE ARE ALL BORN IGNORANT. The design of the wallpaper is inspired by Baruch‘s cage-like sketch L‘arte esiste nel sistema dell‘ arte. The mantra-like text layer of the wallpaper reads BUT YOU ARE FEEDING IT and reflects a critical perspective on systemic power dynamics.
